Outrageous "damage" allegation! Caveat Emptor (consumer beware!)! This Hertz appears to either concoct damage to its rentals and calls you a few days after you are home requesting your insurance agent's name and number, or it just doesn't monitor its pool of cars promptly enough to carefully spot damage properly and find a culpable party, if any! We were shocked as we returned the care to the Hertz yard in undamaged and in the same condition it was when we first rented it! In hindsight, this incident was very troubling and in our opinion, the staff in general is apathetic, impersonal, uninterested, negligent and/or dishonest, or a combination thereof.
The facts: We were on vacation last week for ten days, flew from Boston into Bozeman Yellowstone Airport on 7/21/17 and rented a GMC Acadia from the airport Hertz. We were asked to inspect car for damage, as requested at the time of rental [though oddly no one from Hertz accompanied us on this pre-rental "inspection"], and found no damage--aside from fact that car had someone's debris in it (candy wrappers, tissue and sunglasses) and was dirty on the outside. We put very little mileage on car as MT friends drove us around the Bozeman and Big Sky areas. While in MT, this car was parked at the Huntley Inn in Big Sky and at the Hilton in Bozeman. When we returned it to the same Airport Hertz on 7/30/17 at 5:30 am for a flight home, there was no damage to the car. A few days after returning to Boston, I was called by Hertz and told that they found "baseball sized" damage to the hood of our vehicle. We were dumbfounded. The car was in excellent shape (i.e., no damage!) and there were no mishaps when the vehicle was in our possession. The woman who called me said that their inspectors review the vehicle between 7 and 7:30am. I told her the damage must have occurred in the parking lot after we left it there, and was very surprised that it took Hertz three days to inform us of this troubling discovery. We are a couple of older professionals - one a surgeon and one a lawyer and former criminal prosecutor. We don't lie and we would be the first ones to report any damage occurring on our watch. That car was in the same exact same shape when we returned it as when we picked it up. We told the Hertz caller that we would never use Hertz again to which the agent replied we "would be hearing from Priebus Insurance". Bottom line: Don't be blamed for alleged damage that you only learn about some days after returning the rental. Whatever the alleged damage may be, it did not occur on our watch. !!
Terrible service. Misplaced key so they told me to use the extra key in trunk. I turned truck in still missing the key but the key was found the following day and turned into the kiosk at airport. I called and verified it was turned in and they confirmed it was. Months later I get a $280 bill for missing key and they all of sudden have no record of receiving it. Terrible service and rude to deal with.
Fantastic experience! Everyone we dealt with were amazingly helpful and polite. Would definitely rent from them again.
If you are not a gold member do not bother to book with hertz. There are 4 agents currently working and 3 are only focused on gold. Once they clear the line out of gold members they will take one person from the line of the unworthy and then another plane will land, refilling the gold line. I haven't ever felt so insignificant as a customer. Not sure how the hertz model will build a larger group of prospective clients if they treat every non gold member as if they don't matter. I really hope this is a local issue and not a nationwide. I will never utilize hertz again. Customer lost for life. Good work.
Car was older. tires were less than adequate for snowy roads. Dash was littered and sticky with residue. We were charged almost $57 (18%) more than the estimate with no explanation. Avoid this agency!
